Leaves
A photosynthetic and transpiring organ, usually developed from leaf primordium in the bud; an expanded, usually green, organ borne on the stem of a plant.
Petiole | Leaf stalk. | |
Largest leaf or leaflets length
Largest leaf or leaflets width
Leaf division | Classification based primarily on arrangement of leaflets. This classification is based on discrete segments of leaves or leaflets, but the terms with 'compound' are equally applicable to segments, divisions, etc. of any structure with a blade; e.g., palmately divided, pinnately cleft, etc.
Leaf or leaflet margin character | For precison in margin description the type, the symmetry of the individual tooth, the margins of the individual tooth, the apex of the individual tooth, the type of sinus (rounded or angled), the number of teeth per unit of margin measurement, the spacing (regular or irregular) of the teeth, the nature of teeth (simple or compound in two or more size groups) should be indicated or described.

Leaf or leaflet shape | An outline of specific form which is plane or two-dimensional; or a specific figure which is three dimensional.
Leaf or leaflet apex | The tip of a two-dimensional structure which is usually bounded by the upper 5-10% of the margins; or the top of a three-dimensional structure.
Leaf or leaflet blade base attachment
Leaf or leaflet base shape | The lower portion of a two-dimensional structure which is usually bounded by the lower 5-10% of the margins; or the bottom of three-dimensional structure. |
